Write the one sentence that tells people who you help

One short line that names who you help and the problem you fix does more than a page of fancy words. A free AI tool can give you three drafts to pick from in a few minutes.

What it is

It is one plain line, like "I fix leaky roofs for home owners in Mesa." It tells a stranger who you help and what you help with. AI can draft it. You pick the words that sound like you.

Why it matters

People decide fast. A line like "Quality service you can trust" says nothing, so they keep scrolling. A clear line makes the right people stop.

A made-up example: a sewing shop sign said "Sewing and more." Nobody knew the owner's best work was fixing wedding dresses. A new line, "I fix and fit wedding dresses for brides in town," told the right people to call.

Try it with AI

Open a free AI tool, like ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot. Leave out names, phone numbers and anything private. Copy this starter prompt, fill in the parts in brackets, and paste it in.

I run a small business. Help me write one short sentence that says who I help and what I help them with.

What I do: [what you do]
Who buys from me most: [the kind of people]

Give me 3 versions under 15 words each. Plain words, no hype.

What a good answer looks like: Three short lines you could say out loud without feeling silly, each naming a kind of person and what you do for them. If one sounds too fancy, type "Make it plainer."

Your 5-minute try

  1. Think of your three best customers. What do they have in common?
  2. Fill in the two blanks and run the prompt.
  3. Pick the line that sounds most like you, and put it in your profile or email signature.

The takeaway: One clear line about who you help does more than a page of fancy words.

Questions

Where should I use my one line?

Anywhere a stranger meets you first: your social profile, your email signature, the top of your website, or when someone asks what you do.

Do I need a paid AI tool for this?

No. The free plan of ChatGPT works. Gemini, Copilot and Claude work too.

What if the AI gets a fact wrong?

Just tell it the right fact. It will fix the draft. You always pick the final words.
