Tell new customers what to expect

A short note right after someone buys, saying thank you and what happens next, stops worried calls and builds trust. AI can draft it from a few plain steps.

What it is

It's a short thank-you note you send a new customer. It says what will happen next and how often they'll hear from you. Then you do just what you said.

Why it matters

People trust you when you do what you say. A clear note at the start stops the "When are you coming?" calls and makes you look calm and ready.

A made-up example: a lawn care owner sends "Thanks for choosing us. We come every other Tuesday. We text you the day before. If it rains, we come the next day." New customers know what to expect, and trust grows each time he keeps his word.

Try it with AI

Open a free AI tool, like ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot. Leave out names, phone numbers and anything private. Copy this starter prompt, fill in the parts in brackets, and paste it in.

I run a small business. Write a short thank-you note for a new customer.

What I sell: [your product or service]
What happens next for them: [the steps, in your own words]

Under 120 words. Warm and plain. Only promise what I listed.

What a good answer looks like: A short note that says thank you and lists the next steps in order. If it promises something you can't keep, cut that line.

Your 5-minute try

  1. Write down what really happens after someone buys from you. Three steps is plenty.
  2. Run the starter prompt with those steps.
  3. Add your real contact details and save the note for your next new customer.

What to watch for

The fuller lesson in the Member library we're building adds how often they'll hear from you and how to reach you, a reminder habit so you keep the promise, and fixes for a stiff draft. See what Member will include

The takeaway: Say what will happen, then make it happen. That is how trust grows.
