Check what people see when they look you up

Search your business name and town like a stranger would, jot down what's wrong or old, and let AI turn your notes into a short fix list with the biggest problem first.

What it is

It's a quick look at what people find when they search for you: your name, hours, phone, address and photos. AI turns your notes into a short, ordered fix list.

Why it matters

What shows up online is often the first thing a new customer learns about you. Wrong hours or an old number can send them to someone else.

A made-up example: a repair shop moved across town, but the old address still showed up in searches. New customers kept going to the wrong place. A five-minute look would have caught it.

Try it with AI

Open a free AI tool, like ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot. Leave out names, phone numbers and anything private. Copy this starter prompt, fill in the parts in brackets, and paste it in.

I searched for my business online. Here are my notes:
[what you found: hours, address, photos, anything wrong or old]

Make a short fix list, most important first, 5 items or fewer. Don't make up anything about my business.

What a good answer looks like: A short list in order, with wrong hours, phone or address near the top. If a step doesn't match your screen, type "I don't see that. What else can I try?"

Your 5-minute try

  1. Search your business name and town. Look at the first page and the map.
  2. Write down three things you see.
  3. Run the starter prompt and do the first fix if you can.

What to watch for

The fuller lesson in the Member library we're building adds where to go to fix each item, what to do when the steps don't match your screen, and a monthly check habit. See what Member will include

The takeaway: Look yourself up like a stranger would, and fix the first thing that is wrong.

Questions

What should I check first?

Your hours, phone number and address. Those send customers to the wrong place when they're wrong.

Do I need a paid AI tool for this?

No. The free plan of ChatGPT works. Gemini, Copilot and Claude work too.

How often should I look myself up?

A quick look once a month catches most problems early.
